Courtney Sommers, LLC (she/her)

A therapist focused on the relationship.

Therapy is a space for reflection, healing, and growth—but most of all, it’s a relationship. My approach is grounded in trust and collaboration, honoring your lived experiences and inner wisdom. Together, we’ll explore the questions that are showing up in your life:

  • How can I be more satisfied with my relationships?

  • How does my past affect my attachment style and self-talk?

  • How can I show myself compassion?

  • What tools will help me feel more balanced and happy in life?

There’s no one-size-fits-all in therapy. I meet each client with curiosity, empathy, and a flexible, personalized approach. Some sessions may focus on building new skills and practical tools; others may center on simply being heard in a space that welcomes all of who you are.

In individual therapy, we’ll explore how your past has shaped your present—your patterns, your self-talk, your relationships. We’ll work toward greater awareness and self-compassion so you can respond to life with more intention and ease.

In couples therapy, we’ll hold space for both challenge and connection. Relationships are powerful mirrors. They can be places of deep healing, but also sites of old wounds and unspoken needs. It may feel daunting to explore relational dynamics, but the rewards—clarity, authenticity, intimacy—are often worth the discomfort. I help couples develop better communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional connection. Every relationship is different, and every session is an opportunity for new insight.

My style is Caring. Collaborative. Insightful. Relational.

I work with adults and couples in-person at my office in Ferndale or virtually with folks from all across Michigan.

Whether through learning new tools, or offering an empathetic ear, my goal is to provide a safe space to dive into what may be uncomfortable, in both the individual and couples counseling experience.

If you feel called to find more peace, balance, and slowness in your life—or in your relationship—I’d love to work with you.

Outside of therapy, I am forever in pursuit of living my best cozy life with my husband and our dog.
