You Are Not Broken

Anxiety is your nervous system asking for help.

Anxiety and chronic stress are some of the most common — and most misunderstood — experiences people bring to therapy. Racing thoughts, physical tension, difficulty sleeping, a constant sense of dread or overwhelm: these aren't signs of weakness. They're signs that your nervous system has been working overtime, often for a very long time.

At Middle Way Wellness, we go beyond managing symptoms. We help you understand where your anxiety comes from, learn to work with your body instead of against it, and build a life that feels genuinely calmer — not just quieter on the surface.

You might be here because you feel…

Recognizing yourself is the first step.

Constantly on edge Exhausted but wired Physically tense or tight Stuck in overthinking loops Avoiding situations or people Unable to relax or rest Irritable or short-tempered Disconnected from yourself Burned out at work or home Struggling to sleep Worried about the future Lonely or socially withdrawn

Our Approach

How We Treat Anxiety & Chronic Stress

No two people experience anxiety the same way. We draw from a range of evidence-based and holistic modalities to build a treatment path that fits you.

01

Mindfulness-Based CBT

Standard CBT helps you identify and reframe anxious thoughts. Mindfulness-Based CBT goes further — instead of just challenging thoughts, you learn to observe them with curiosity and distance. You notice the thought without becoming it, which reduces anxiety's grip and builds a more grounded relationship with your own mind.

02

Nervous System Regulation

Chronic stress can rewire your nervous system into a near-constant state of fight-or-flight. We work directly with your body to restore its natural rhythms — through breathwork, grounding practices, and somatic awareness — so that calm becomes your baseline, not the exception.

03

Therapeutic Yoga

Anxiety lives in the body as much as the mind. Therapeutic yoga integrates movement, breath, and mindfulness directly into the therapy process. For those open to it, body-based practices help you reconnect with your body as a source of wisdom and safety — not threat.

04

Finding the Root of Anxiety

Surface-level coping tools can only take you so far. We help you look beneath the anxiety to understand what's really driving it — unmet needs, core beliefs, relational patterns, or life circumstances that have gone unexamined. True relief comes from understanding the "why."

05

Exploring Stressful Past Events

Past experiences — difficult relationships, losses, transitions, or overwhelming moments — often leave an imprint on how we relate to the present. We gently explore how your history may be shaping your current anxiety, at a safe pace, helping integrate those experiences so they no longer run the show.

06

Strengthening Your Social Support

Anxiety often narrows our world — we pull back, cancel plans, and feel increasingly alone. Therapy helps you explore relational patterns, build skills for deeper connection, and invest in the social support network that research shows is one of the most powerful buffers against chronic stress.

A Closer Look

Mindfulness-Based CBT vs. Traditional CBT

Both approaches are powerful. Here's how they differ — and why the combination is often more effective than either alone.

Traditional CBT

  • Identifies negative or distorted thoughts
  • Challenges and reframes unhelpful thinking
  • Focuses on changing the content of thoughts
  • Skills-based and structured
  • Strong evidence base for anxiety disorders

Mindfulness-Based CBT

  • Observes thoughts without judgment or struggle
  • Changes your relationship to thoughts, not just the thoughts themselves
  • Anchors you in present-moment awareness
  • Integrates meditation and body-based practices
  • Especially effective for chronic stress & relapse prevention
"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."
— Carl Rogers
